Westlake High School Head Coach – Girls Flag Football
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
· Previous high school and/or collegiate coaching experience (within the last 5 years preferred).
· Ability to provide leadership and organization for all levels of the high school program.
· Ability to manage the program within the established philosophy and policies of the athletic department, the school, district, and CIF.
· A high level of knowledge regarding coaching techniques and evidence of the ability to convey effectively those techniques to student-athletes of all level and abilities.
· Ability to communicate effectively with all elements of the school community including players, parents, other coaches, officials, and school staff including administration.
· Experience in promoting a successful program to students, faculty, and community.
· Ability to build a coaching staff that is able to follow the direction of the head coach while following the guidelines and expectations of Westlake High School and the Conejo Valley Unified School District.

· Skill in working with people in a supportive and positive nature.
· Places high emphasis on student academic and social development in addition to physical development.
· Motivates and inspires student-athletes and coaches throughout the program in a positive and constructive manner.
COACHING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ability to develop and maintain a successful program both in-season and off-season.
· Establishes seasonal and long-range goals for the program.
· Leads assistants in a manner in line with the athletic department and school district policies.
· Maintains open lines of communication with administration and promotes the policies of the athletic department.
· Acts as a liaison between the school and community to promote a positive program.
· Creates an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
· Ability to coach individual participants, small groups, and the team, as appropriate, in the skills necessary for achievement in the sport.
· Teaches the fundamentals of the sport in a manner that provides opportunities for all athletes to learn and improve.
· Teaches precautions and procedures to ensure student safety and help students prevent injuries. Promptly documents all injuries.
· Enforces the WHS Athletic Department Expectations (dress, behavior, etc.).
· Promotes the policies of the athletic department and Conejo Valley Unified School District.
· Acts as a liaison between the school and community to promote a positive program.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
· Stipend: $5153 - $6124 per season depending on experience in the district
· Start Date: Upon clearance as required and Board approval

(b) Governing boards shall classify as temporary employees persons, other than substitute employees, who are employed to serve in a limited assignment supervising athletic activities of pupils; provided, such assignment shall first be made available to teachers presently employed by the district. Service pursuant to this subdivision shall not be included in computing the service required as a prerequisite to attainment of, or eligibility to, classification as a permanent employee of a school district.
