Westlake High School Assistant Coach – Water Polo
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Previous high school and/or collegiate coaching experience (within the last 5 years preferred).
Ability to provide leadership and organization for all levels of the high school program.
Ability to manage the program within the established philosophy and policies of the athletic department, the school, district, and the CIF.
A high level of knowledge regarding coaching techniques and evidence of the ability to convey effectively those
techniques to student-athletes of all level and abilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with all elements of the school community including players, parents, other
coaches, officials, and school staff including administration.
Experience in promoting a successful program to students, faculty, and community.
Ability to build a coaching staff that is able to follow the direction of the head coach while following the guidelines
and expectations of Westlake High School and the Conejo Valley Unified School District.
DESIRED PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Skill in working with people in a supportive and positive nature.
Places high emphasis on student academic and social development in addition to physical development.
Motivates and inspires student-athletes and coaches throughout the program in a positive and constructive
manner.
COACHING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows the athletic department and school district policies.
Maintains open lines of communication with administration and promotes the policies of the athletic department.
Acts as a liaison between the school and community to promote a positive program.
Creates an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development
of students
Ability to coach individual participants, small groups, and the team, as appropriate, in the skills necessary for
achievement in the sport.
Teaches the fundamentals of the sport in a manner that provides opportunities for all athletes to learn and improve.
Teaches precautions and procedures to ensure student safety and help students prevent injuries. Promptly
documents all injuries.
Enforces the WHS Athletic Department Expectations (dress, behavior, etc.).
Promotes the policies of the athletic department and Conejo Valley Unified School District.
Acts as a liaison between the school and community to promote a positive program.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Stipend: $4184 - $5153 per season depending on experience in the district
Start Date: Upon clearance as required and Board approval
